The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is excited to announce our first Coyote Valley photo contest. As a part of the in-progress Coyote Valley Conservation Area Master Plan (CVCAMP) we’re looking for photos that reveal the many unique aspects of this important conservation landscape’s open spaces. Photo contest winners will receive a $100 gift card to REI and have their photos featured with credit in upcoming Open Space Authority events and publications. Keep reading for information about the guidelines and requirements to enter and get connected to free nature events in Coyote Valley.

CONTEST CATEGORIES
- Wildlife
- Plant Life
- Landscapes
- Agriculture
- People in Nature (Photo release form required. Click here to download release.)
- Aspiring Photographers (Students K-12)
One (1) category per image, please. A total of three (3) images can be entered in the contest.
A People's Choice Award will be selected by the public from the winners in each category.
Contest Highlights
- Contest runs May 1, 2024 - July 22, 2024.
- Three (3) images per participant. Each image must be entered into only one category. Photos submitted in previous Open Space Authority contests are not allowed.
- Each category winner will receive a $100 REI gift card and an Open Space Authority swag bag.
Photo Locations
The Coyote Valley Conservation Areas Master Plan (CVCAMP) team is looking for digital images of Coyote Valley, capturing the diversity of this natural and rural landscape. Your images must be taken on publicly owned or managed land within the Coyote Valley Conservation Program Area (reference map here). Photos may also be taken from publicly accessible streets/sidewalks, viewpoints, etc. that offer views of Coyote Valley.
The following parks/preserves are open to the public, free of charge daily within the Coyote Valley Conservation Program Area:
- Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve
- Máyyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve
- Coyote Creek Parkway(Coyote Valley segment, from Metcalf Road to Cochrane Road)
Photos taken during public access days and events on lands currently being planned through CVCAMP are encouraged and welcome! Visit our Events page to view upcoming events.
The fine print
- BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, YOU ARE ACCEPTING AND AGREEING TO ALL RULES, TERMS, AND CONDITIONS
- The contest is open to participants regardless of residence or citizenship, so long as the laws of their jurisdiction allow participation.
- Employees of the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority are not eligible to participate.
- Photo submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on July 22, 2024.
