OPEN SPACE OUTLOOK
May 2023
Your New Preserve is on the Way!
Construction of the staging area and trails at Máyyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve is reaching the home stretch of completion. If you are following this journey, you will hopefully enjoy reading the latest progress update! As a thank you for subscribing to the Open Space Outlook, you will be one of the first to know about early access opportunities.
This preserve will be an experience unlike any other in the Bay Area, including its seasonal hours, adaptive management practices, and a "Butterfly Pass" required for visitors accessing the sensitive habitats that make this preserve so special. Early access visitors will have opportunities to provide feedback to help Open Space Authority staff and volunteers better understand your experiences as we plan for the future. In the meantime, click the link below to check out the latest progress!

Did you know?
The iconic "eagle" screech you often hear in movies and TV is actually the call of the red-tailed hawk! The smaller raptor has a much more impressive call than a bald eagle - which is why many producers will dub over the eagle's squeaky call with the powerful scream of the red-tailed hawk.
Learn more about this common and charismatic bird here.
We acknowledge that the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority works within lands that were originally stewarded by the Awaswas-, Chochenyo-, Mutsun-, and Thámien-speaking peoples. Today we are honored to partner with the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band and Muwekma Ohlone Tribe of the San Francisco Bay Area in our shared work to protect and restore the environment and connect people to land.
